It's Mardi Gras!!!

Mardi Gras in Louisiana... what an incredibly special time of year for us!  We decided to decorate our doors in the 6th grade hall to make it feel very festive.  As the art teacher, I told the other teachers that I was more than happy to help out the process.  It has taken longer than anticipated (due to a sick child at home I was out almost an entire week!!), but we are finally done!!

The students started off by making papier mache masks that they then decorated.  Here's a few shots of them making the masks...

And here's the finished masks on the banner we colored and glittered (what's Mardi Gras without a little sparkle?)....

Next, we painted a jester to put by our door...

Then we covered our door with fringed paper to make it look like a parade float... (And of course added some other fun stuff to it)

We made the traditional drama masks and a king cake to adorn our math teacher's doorway...

We turned our Voyager Math teacher's door into a New Orleans style balcony, complete with dangling "beads"....

And we turned our Voyager Reading teacher's door into a Mardi Gras boat!!

Thank you so much to all of my students for all of your help with this massive undertaking!!  Ya'll did a fabulous job, and don't forget to

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!!!
